benjamin marx is an american composer, producer, and songwriter.

his latest ep, live from joe bar, is a love letter to his favorite cafe, since closed. the record was filmed live by marcy stone-francois inside joe bar on an uncharacteristically warm October evening alongside cellist rose bellini.

his latest chamber work, feynman diagrams for percussion, synthesizer and samples, premiered at Octave 9 in May of 2023, under the auspices of the Seattle Symphony.

his work focuses on that which is quiet and repetitive. his debut record of contemporary chamber music,
anxious pangs, debuted on KEXP’s Pacific Notions in 2019.

after that, he released his second record, you don’t say, to acclaim in September 2021.

ben likes to stay busy. he works with choreographers, performance artists, filmmakers, and produces records for his friends. he’s been commissioned by the seattle art museum and he is the former assistant music director of the degenerate art ensemble.
